There are many types of counselling and psychotherapy. Looking at the various options can be a bewildering experience. I practise integrative psychotherapy. This form of therapy arose out of the belief that there is an overlap between the main schools of therapy. It seeks to draw from them what is most useful for clients in dealing with their problems.
In the therapy I undertake, connections are made between the problems the client is experiencing and their social and work experiences, relationships and personal history.
The aim of the therapy is to help the client gain a greater insight into the problems they are experiencing and to be supported in findings ways to cope better and move forward.
I have experience in working with clients who have been coping with a variety of issues including:
- abuse
- anger management
- anxiety
- bereavement
- depression
- relationship and personal issues
- sexuality
- stress
- psychosexual issues
- cross-cultural problems
- issues related to spirituality
The therapy can be time-limited or longer term, depending on the client's needs. This is discussed at the initial session.
